  After 40 plus years of canoeing Northern Ontario rivers my canoeing and fishing friend and I decided it was time to give these adventures up. We still wanted to canoe, camp and fish. After searching areas we thought would be enjoyable I located an area and a resource that would be able to help us with changing our direction in Northern Ontario. This resource was Harlan at Red lake Outfitters.

  Took a float plane with my wife and our friends for a week at Red Lake Outfitters Olive Lake Eco Lodge in the beautiful Woodland Caribou Provincial Park! I have used many outfitters all over Ontario and Harlan's attention to detail and quick communication skills were by far the best! The cabin was beautiful and every direction you looked was full of life an beautiful scenery! The sunsets and Northern Lights are out of this world! The fishing on Olive Lake and surrounding lakes were world class. In the evenings it was 10 casts 10 fish! I barely remember reeling in an empty hook the whole trip! 10/10 trip in some of the most remote wilderness Canada has to offer!

  As you will read from other reviews, Harlan is knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and cares about the people enjoying the park and nature. He goes beyond my other experiences with outfitters I have used. In talking with Harlan you will soon learn and understand he is in rhythm with the nature he wants you to appreciate.

  The wilderness is a humbling experience. You realize it has been here longer than us and hopefully it will be here a lot longer for other adventurers to enjoy. The vastness, the sparkling night sky, the fish dinners and of course the catching of fish makes you understand that we are just an infinitesimal piece of this habitat.

  If you want spectacular fishing, go talk to Harlan at Red Lake Outfitters. He’ll show you where to go, what to use, and time of day to fish and you’ll be catching walleye like they make it look on the fishing shows. We stayed a week at the Olive Lake Eco Lodge and it was awesome. With high-speed internet and a warm shower, this little spot is one of Canada’s best-kept secret.

  Harlan worked with us on locating lakes that he thought we would like. He was right on in his assessment. Through Harlan flights were arranged, accommodations prior to flying in were set up, maps and permits were all ready for us. However, on this past trip, 7/10/17 my partner could not come. I talked with Harlan about the cabin and he let me know when it was available and I could come. I took him up on renting the cabin.

  As others have noted the cabin is delightfun with all the tools you need to enjoy your stay. This is the first time I had stayed in a cabin throughout the other trips I have done. This can spoil you in a hurry, especially when it is pouring rain.

  My husband and I travelled to The Olive Lake Eco Lodge with another couple from July 2-9 2017. The experience was incredible. Everyday we spent paddling, boating, hiking and catching a countless amount of walleye. The lodge itself is top notch. It has all the amenities anyone could ever ask for. You definitely do not feel like you are in the middle of no where. A great place for the avid outdoors man or a couples retreat. Even if you are not into fishing you can enjoy laying out on the beach, cooking on the outdoor grill and making s'mores by the beautiful fire pit at night. We will definitely be visiting the lodge again soon!
